The text you check is sent to our server and on to OpenAI to be judged. We don't store it — it's processed and discarded. The one exception is the desktop app's results, which can include sentences from your draft: they're kept for 1 to 7 days, then deleted. OpenAI never trains on the text, but may keep it for up to 30 days to check for abuse.
Google Docs is checked only after you turn Tracely on for Docs; other sites only after you turn it on for that site.
No account is needed. If you sign in with Google, we keep your email address, your account id and your plan.
Usage counts are kept for 13 months; payment records (which plan, when) for as long as you have an account.
We don't sell data, show ads, or use your text for anything but checking it.
This page is a summary. The full privacy policy, which the extension and the app link to, gives every detail and is the one that applies.
While Tracely is on for the page you're writing in, the text of the document (up to 30,000 characters) and the sentences to check are sent a few seconds after you write or change a sentence. A sentence that has already been checked isn't sent again.
Finding sources sends the flagged sentence, its suggested correction and up to 6,000 characters around it. When it's turned on, OpenAlex (a free index of scholarly papers) and Brave Search are asked first, and each receives that one sentence, without its citation, as a search query; never the document. A link you paste is fetched by our server, not your browser.
Apart from the desktop app's results (kept 1 to 7 days, then deleted), we keep no copy of the text you check, no documents, and no record of which pages you use Tracely on. Our server never receives a page’s address — only the text.
Every connection to our server and this website is encrypted. Card details stay with Stripe, and sign-in goes through Google, so we hold no passwords. Access to our systems is limited to the people who run Tracely. If a breach exposes your personal information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Tracely doesn't follow you across other websites, and no other company tracks you through it, so there's nothing for a browser's Do Not Track signal to switch off: Tracely works the same either way. This website loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address, and sets no advertising or analytics cookies.
Tracely is for people 13 and older. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and a parent or guardian must buy any paid plan. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we delete it.
Changes are published here, with the effective date at the top. A change to how your data is used is also announced in Tracely or by email before it takes effect. Questions, and requests to see, correct or delete what we keep about you: info@jointracely.com.
